A Night on Broadway

A NIGHT ON BROADWAY by Melbourne-based ensemble Pot Pourri
was Gardner & Wife Theatre's first show from Australia. The
repertoire of opera and musical theatre favourites quickly
produced an excited following and full houses, with some
fans returning more than once to catch the four singers –
Tania de Jong, Rebecca Bode, Jonathan Morton, Jonathan Bode
– and their pianist, Rebecca Chambers. Sponsors included Bacardi-Martini.

Aesop's Fables

New York City-based Jim West Puppets debuted in Asia with a three-week run of AESOP'S FABLES at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre. Master puppeteer and author Jim West presented seven of Aesop's tales and delighted young audiences and their families with his unique combination of puppetry, humour, classical music and the hilarious antics of Moral the dog! Sponsors included ntv7.

D'Arranged Marriage

The return engagement of D'ARRANGED MARRIAGE was performed by one-half of "Those Indian Guys" - Rajeev Varma - and played three weeks at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre. This popular one-man show continued to receive rave reviews from both critics and audiences. Sponsors included ntv7, Bangles Tandoori Restaurant and Bacardi-Martini.

Menopause The Musical

The return engagement of MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL in 2007 saw an unprecedented 6-week run at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre, making its 44 performances Malaysia’s longest-running show. It went on to open the inaugural Putrajaya Arts Festival and played to large and enthusiastic audiences at the 600-seat Auditorium Perbadanan Putrajaya in the country’s administrative capital. Sponsors included Organon, ntv7 and Bacardi-Martini.

Gamarjobat - RETURNS! Since their first visit to Kuala Lumpur, GAMARJOBAT became one of Gardner & Wife’s most requested shows. Winning several new awards, including Best International Act 2006 at the Brighton Fringe Festival, GAMARJOBAT returned to Malaysia directly from another successful season at the World Buskers Festival in New Zealand. Ketch & Hiro-pon played to capacity audiences for their entire two-week run at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre.
pluck: The Specialists "The Specialists" saw the return of UK string trio PLUCK back in Kuala Lumpur for a three-week engagement at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre. Presented by Gulf Air, the award-winning Edinburgh Fringe favourites delighted old and new fans with their unique combination of classical music skills and contemporary comic talent.
The Gospel According to St Luke THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST LUKE marked an interesting departure from Gardner & Wife's traditional comedic genre. Bruce Kuhn's remarkable dramatisation of the Biblical chapter created a unique theatrical combination of sacred literature and acting prowess. It played for a total of over two weeks at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre as well as several performances in Singapore . Sponsors included The Embassy of the United States of America and First Coach.
Broadway Ah Beng! BROADWAY AH BENG! was Gardner & Wife’s second co-production with Singapore-based The Dream Academy, and Gardner & Wife's first non-English language show. Sebastian Tan and his three "chio bu"s (chorus girls) performed mostly in the Hokkien dialect. Presenting sponsor Crocodile provided media sponsorship, enabling the show to advertise on radio and billboards. Other sponsors included First Coach, Pensonic and Spotlite.
Wanton Me! WANTON ME! was Gardner & Wife’s first co-production with Singapore-based The Dream Academy. This Singaporean cabaret performed to enthusiastic fans of Hossan Leong and Selena Tan – winner of Best Comedy Actress at the Asian Television Awards in 2004 & 2005 – for two weeks at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre. Sponsors included First Coach, Pensonic and Chemical Touch.
Gamarjobat Gardner & Wife’s first show from Asia, GAMARJOBAT, created tremendous word-of-mouth excitement, playing to frequent standing ovations for over two-and-a-half weeks at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre and proving why this “shut up comedy” won top comedy awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival two years running – Best Dubble Act 2004 and the Tap Water Award 2005. Sponsors included Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur.
