MARIE JONES
Born in Belfast, Marie Jones has written extensively for radio,
television and the stage. She was Writer-in-Residence with Charabanc
Theatre Company from 1983-1990. Her plays have been performed in
many countries, such as the former Soviet Union, Germany, Canada,
Britain and the USA. A NIGHT IN NOVEMBER won the TMA award for Best
Touring Production and the Glasgow Mayfest Award. STONES IN HIS
POCKETS was a major international success, winning the 1999 Irish
Times/ESB Irish Theatre Award for Best Production, both the Laurence
Olivier Award and London Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy,
and nominated for three Tony Awards. Jones was the recipient of
the John Hewitt Award for Contribution to Cultural Traditions, and
she was awarded a Special Judges Award at the Belfast Arts Awards
2000. She was recently awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire)
by Queen Elizabeth II and an Honorary Doctorate in Literature from
Queens University Belfast. |

HUGH BORTHWICK
Recently involved in the Royal Shakespeare Companys UK
National tour of John Bartons THE HOLLOW CROWN. Recent directing
credits include DESTINATION ELEVATION (Soho Theatre, London), and
MY COUSIN RACHEL (UK National Tour). Hugh was the Resident Assistant
Director of STONES IN HIS POCKETS for four years at The Duke of
Yorks Theatre and The New Ambassadors Theatre in London.
He also directed the production on its UK, and US National tours,
as well as assisting on the Broadway, World Tour, Israel, Sweden,
Dublin, and Belfast productions. Other Staff Directing credits include
DEATHTRAP (UK National Tour), WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF H.R.T. (Vaudeville
Theatre, London, and UK/Irish Tours), WOMEN ON THE VERGE

SEAN SLOAN
Over the years with STONES IN HIS POCKETS, Sean has performed
in both the Ambassadors Theatre and the Duke Of Yorks Theatre
in the West End of London and worldwide in Australia, New Zealand,
Hong Kong, Canada, Austria, Israel and ending the world tour closer
to home in Cork, Ireland.
Sean was born and raised in Camlough, a small village near Newry
in Northern Ireland. At university in Belfast, he obtained a degree
in production management, followed by a postgraduate acting programme
at Mountview Theatre School in London.
Other theatre credits include MARAT/SADE at the Peacock Theatre
in Dublin; ROMEO & JULIET for the Solent People's Theatre; ROBIN
OF SHERWOOD at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre; LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS
at Chichester Festival Theatre; THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR at the
Watermill Theatre, NEWBURY and DICK BARTON SPECIAL AGENT at the
Warehouse Theatre, Croydon.
He feels extremely privileged and proud to be involved in the production
of STONES IN HIS POCKETS in Malaysia! |

KIERAN LAGAN
Kieran Gerard Lagan first appeared in STONES IN HIS POCKETS at the
Duke of Yorks Theatre in the West End of London.
Kieran was brought up outside Maghera, Co. Derry and then went
to London and trained at The Central School of Speech and Drama
where he graduated with a BA in Acting in 1996.
Since then his theatre credits has included THE WEIR and THE LONESOME
WEST at the Bolton Octagon, ON MCQUILLAN`S HILL and SECOND-HAND
THUNDER for The Tinderbox Theatre Company, THE DYBUKK at the Battersea
Arts Centre, SOMETIMES and THE LOST CHILD for Replay Theatre Company,
THE LAVENDER SONG at The Prince Theatre, Greenwich, and PETER PAN
Newbury, Watermill Theatre.
On television, Kieran has just completed filming as one of the
leading roles in I FOUGHT THE LAW, a new drama series for BBC Northern
Ireland. He also has done several Radio Plays for BBC Radio.
This is Kierans first visit to Malaysia and is delighted
for the opportunity! |
